Smartphones are increasingly valuable travel tools.  Whether you need a map, a currency converter, or a tool for organization, there is an app will help. Be sure to check out the following apps before your next trip:

Tripit
This application takes all your email information on flights, accommodations and reservations and organizes it into a simple, easy to use itinerary.  Use it to stay organized and plan your trip out in advance.
This app has all the benefits of Skype but on the go.  You can make Skype to Skype phone calls, IM your contacts, and holds video calls if your phone has a camera.
Don’t ever get lost again!  Having a digital map and address search capabilities comes in handy when you just can’t seem to find your hostel. This app not only provides directions and navigation as well as place pages.
This converter tracks the exchange rates for every world currency, and you can convert 180+ currencies on the go.

This app allows you to quickly translate words and phrases from multiple languages (French, Spanish, Italian, etc.) into English on your phone.  You can even translate text directly from your phone.  So much easier than lugging around a dictionary or phrase book.
This app allows you to create your own personalized virtual postcard which doesn’t cost a cent to send.  Just snap a picture, write your message, choose a theme and send it to your friend via Facebook, Twitter, or email.
A clever app that shows a map of all the public toilet locations all across the world!  It may not be your most used app but if you are in dire need of a toilet this could come in handy.
